Established in South Warwickshire by Trudi Rainsberry, Independent Autism Advice Limited offers professional advice for adults supporting, or educating, children and young people on the autism spectrum, with social communication differences, who may have co-occurring Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Working to develop a child-centred approach to understanding autism and SEND, respecting the importance of the voice and autistic perspective of the child or young person. 

 

Services:

  • Bespoke training packages and workshops, based on professional experience and evidence-based approaches and interventions;
  • Observational visits for children/young people, with recommendations and visit report;
  • Assessment of a child/young person’s communication and interaction needs, which may include standardised cognition assessments;
  • Identifying possible sensory processing differences, providing practical guidance and recommendations;
  • Providing comprehensive reports, guidance and recommendations for schools, educational settings and parents/carers that might be used as part of the ‘assess, plan, do, review’ cycle, and/or providing evidence and advice towards an Education, Health Care Plan (EHCP);
  • Bespoke packages for transitions between educational settings, such as Nursery to Reception, Primary to Secondary, Secondary to FE, through pre/post-transition observations, training or workshops and follow-up visits;
  • Group and individual work for children or young people on the autism spectrum, which may include exploring feelings and developing an understanding of autism;
  • Building positive solutions for individuals and organisations experiencing difficulties in adapting the environment to meet the needs of a child or young person on the autism spectrum;
  • Supporting communication through strategies and interventions to make a connection with a child/young person on the autism spectrum, such as through the use of Tacpac®, VIG™ or Intensive Interaction.
